Why the name O₂ Bamboo?

One of the amazing attributes of Bamboo is its ability to absorb the ever increasing levels of carbon dioxide from our earth's atmosphere, and creating oxygen, or "O₂".  In fact, it creates a lot of O₂.  Bamboo's leafy canopy produces up to 35% more O₂ than an equivalent stand of trees.

• Bamboo is a grass with wood characteristics
• Bamboo is the fastest growing plant on earth:
  • grows to full height within 6 months.
  • will achieve harvest maturity in 5-8 years.
• Bamboo consumes more co2 than trees.
• Harvesting bamboo does not require replanting:
  • regeneration occurs from the existing root structure which helps prevent soil erosion.
• Mature bamboo has similar density characteristics to that of domestic hardwoods.
• Mao bamboo is not a food source or habitat for the giant panda bear.
